Bauhaus

The Bauhaus was founded in 1919 it was a school in the city of Weimar which was a very accepting. It was a school of art that was founded by a German architect Walter Gropius. As well at art in the Bauhaus there was also a lot of design. They design furniture and useful things as well as pretty things with the art side of it all. With chairs they looked very slick and modern, I like this chair I found on the inter web. Its very simple and strait.

My Designs For Alternative Miss World

Design 1

The first design included one half different to the other, this is the design for miss balls which includes ball pit balls cut into half and stuck onto 1/4 of the costume. this would also include the left leg that would feature ball pit balls on the bottom of the leg. gold fabric would be used on the left leg and would feature a flare type of bottom instead of a straight cut leg. an extended collar will also be included to the costume to enhance the feeling of class to the overall look of the costume. I like the design but certain constraints are posed when trying to afford the materials for the costume as funds are limited and they have a certain budget because of this. so overall the design is nice however due to the costs it would not be feasible to create.

Design 2

The second design had a more elaborate approach, meaning that there was more creative thinking and ideas where included that are seen as different or alternative which would fit the alternative miss world. I tried to replicate the feature from design 1 of using different half's of the costume just like Andrew. The design included one side colour the other black and white, this would help to show emphasis of the colours used within the costume. For the head piece on the right side of the costume I took the inspiration from last years winner miss ... . For the left side of the costume head piece I tried to add height to the costume by creating a large collar with tassels coming off the side. I believe that this costume is good because I was trying to do the same as the piece from ... . this is my favorite design so far due to the colours and craziness that was attempted within this design however I don't this I will achieve this look if I tried to make it I have looked at different ways and thought of different ways using wadding but it would use too much.

Design 3

The second design which is named Miss Blower, I looked into making the bum grow bigger and bigger when going down the cat walk on alternative miss world. My idea was to get child's foot pumps and convert them into shoes to pump up the bum of the costume. I could not do this garment due to not being able to find child foot pumps. For the rest of the garment I was looking at making a head piece made from wire and ribbon to create an illusion of elegance. I was going to make a simple top so it did not take away from the skirt and the Head piece.

Alternative Miss World

For my Alternative Miss World project I have been looking at making a half and half garment like what Andrew makes and wears at all Alternative Miss World events. In my sketchbook I have done a lot of different designs for this. As you can see I have done a range of designs and I have favoritised this one but after doing some researched on how to make this dress, however I have made an executive decision to not make this design.

This is the piece I have decided to make this design because I have been looking the colourful side of Alternative Miss World. This is because I love colour so much. This design came from looking at more than just colour I have also been looking at the texture of the garment as well. So I have used a fluffy far material for the left leg, it is bright red and soft.

My idea so far

For my Alternative Miss World project I am looking at building a garment instead of just making one. I will be trying different materials out like, cardboard, paper, different fabrics, glink, Wilow, buttons, tin foil and anything else I find on my travels.
